This year we will host the 9th annual Tico Trot on the upper playground (blacktop)! The Tico Trot is the PTO’s primary fundraiser, and we need your help:

Donate: Look out for pledge packets coming home with students.
Volunteer: Sign up to help set up, count laps, or bake muffins.
Find or become a sponsor: Reach out to Shana Verstegen to learn more (shana@shanaverstegen.com).

Join us for an evening of celebration at our Showcase of Student Learning! The evening will include a free pizza dinner hosted by the Thoreau PTO, time in classrooms to see some of your child’s learning and work, and a fun scavenger hunt throughout the building.

5:30 - 6:00pm: Pizza Available (Classrooms closed)
6:00-7:00pm Open House (Report to your child’s classroom first for the scavenger hunt)
7:00 - 7:30pm Pizza Available (Classrooms closed)

Thoreau scholars are getting a new library! “I’m most excited that the library is going to be designed for kids to fall in love with reading,” Principal Emily Jensen said. “They’ll have better access to books because of new shelving, which will encourage students to read more and focus on the material in the book more effectively.” The update will also add air conditioning and walls to reduce distractions.
